Black Necked Crane Festival

The festival marks the arrival of the black necked cranes to its winter home at Phobjikha valley. The event aims to promote awareness on environmental conservation.

The annual event aims to renew the partnership between conservation agencies and the local people to protect the natural habitat. In addition to the conservation effort, the festival also aims to build economic opportunities for locals through tourism.

The festival is organised at the 16th-century Gangtey monastery where locals, studuents and district monks stage a cultural program including folk song, and mask dance.
